The town of Brookport, IL was hit by a tornado yesterday. At least three in the town have been killed. I've been seeing on Facebook that there is an 11 year old boy in critical condition with a head injury. Today, I purchased $64 worth of immediately needed supplies (cleaning supplies, plastic storage, personal hygiene, headache relief meds, water, etc.) and took to one of the churches that are gathering supplies.

If any on my F-List would like to donate to a worthy cause, I've added a link below. Due to Brookport being a low economic area, there are not many direct online donation links monetary wise. Most are taking cash/check donations locally. Brookport falls under the St. Louis Chapter of the Red Cross, but I wouldn't trust that the money would make it down from St. Louis.

For the Pets
There are many, many displaced pets from the storm. A local vet clinic is doing free work on injured pets and the animal shelter in Metropolis, IL is organizing pet rescue and housing pets in hopes to get them reunited with their owners. This animal shelter could use donations for finding extra space to house the animals along with food and supplies. I know many of you are pet lovers, so I figured this would be a good online way to help raise money in support. Just visit the website link below and the Paypal donation link is on their home page.

This is about 4-5 miles west of my house. They took a direct earlier from a tornado that crossed the Ohio River from KY into IL. There's been one two three confirmed death and they have been transporting injured to the hospitals over here. Since the tornado sirens stopped, all I've been hearing are the emergency sirens of the crews from my area heading back and forth over the river to help.

Not a good day for our area... :(

(04) There's a fair number of NCIS/SG or SGA crossovers because goaulds commit murder, not infrequently among the military. But weren't some of Ba'al's clones working the business angle on earth there at the end? So maybe the FBI White Collar division ended up getting a case? And, you know, if the Navy ends up involved somehow as well, it wouldn't go amiss....

I went back to work today after a brief hiatus that took me to Florida... Yay for vacations!

First, I got sick with a cold that tried to turn into something else. (white spots were on the throat!!) So I carted myself to the doctor and demanded medicine before my trip as I wanted to enjoy Florida. It worked.

Then the roomie and I left last week on Thursday afternoon and drove to Atlanta. On Friday, we spent the morning at the Georgia Aquarium where I was mesmerized by various aquatic critters. Then we had to detour into the Coca Cola Store where I limited the roomie to about 15 minutes. Otherwise he would have spent his entire life savings in there. We also wandered through Olympic Centennial Park and rode the new ferris wheel (SkyView Atlanta).

Then we hopped back in the car and drove to Orlando. This year, we did Universal Studios. I will say that Disney is much more welcoming of its guests and easier to navigate when it comes to parking your car. Let's just say that the first stop after finally getting in our room with luggage was the hotel bar.

We spent the next few days roaming the parks, lounging at the pool and wandering around CityWalk. We also learned that motion rides + 3D does not agree with either us anymore. There was a bit of motion sickness on night two... The Harry Potter castle and Hogsmeade looked awesome. And we enjoyed a butterbeer and food at The Three Broomsticks. And while on the Spiderman ride, we almost had to be rescued due to a ride malfunction. But they got it going again, so we didn't get a fun story to tell. And I kicked the roomie's ass at mini golf (two rounds!).

After leaving Orlando, we went to Ormond Beach for a night. I have a great-aunt that lives there. She's been sick with the worst form of shingles, but we were able to visit for a bit over lunch. Then we did some ocean swimming (it was warmer than the pool) and beach walking.

We drove back without an overnight stop on Tuesday. There was an accidental detour in Atlanta that actually saved us an hour of driving time. We put 1,712.4 miles on my car which is probably why I had a low tire pressure light come on yesterday. All in all, the trip was great!

Next up is NYC in a few weeks (16 days actually)!!
