Summary: Life's full of surprises and mine is no exception.

I was excited. He had never taken me anywhere outside of the Civil War reenactments and those I would gladly do without. He said the trip was to Hawaii. I knew it was an island and someplace exotic like that had to be better than staying at the boarding school again for the summer. I knew that surprises would be lurking at every corner and that maybe my father would actually do some things with me the other boys at school talked about. I wasn’t expecting the biggest surprise when he left me all alone in that expensive hotel room.

After the way things went down in Baltimore, I was surprised to see Special Agent Gibbs, second ‘b’ for bastard, standing outside my apartment door. I debated letting him inside until he pounded again with a gruff, “I know you’re in there DiNozzo!” I reluctantly opened the door and he walked in as if he was a long lost buddy. I offered him a beer, but he emptied my left over morning coffee from the pot instead. I waited for him to say something, but when he finally did, I almost couldn’t believe it. All I could do was smile.

Moments flash through a person’s mind in a blink. Every action a person takes determines the outcome of things they couldn’t even begin to fathom. Was Abby’s autopsy nightmare the ultimate cause of Kate’s death? Would Abby have died if it had been her in that room instead of Kate? If I hadn’t have opened that stupid envelope and gotten the plague, would things have been different when that car blew up? I hate the way life throws us surprises when we aren’t prepared. I wish there was a way we could know the outcome before we make our choice.

I’ve been surprised many times in my life, but that day in the interrogation with Fornell bantering back and forth like a therapy session floored me. The FBI actually believed I had killed René. Not only that, but Jeanne was the one that told them it was me. I know she had plenty of reasons to hate my guts, but I never would have believed she could accuse me of murdering her father. Later that day as I saw her walking away, I surprised myself by lying to her face. It was what she needed to hear, but it hurt.

Life is full of surprises and mine is no exception. One after another has been thrown my way and I come through on the other end. I might be a little scarred or otherwise roughed up, but I always make it. I try not to think about what will happen the one time I don’t make it. I’ve had so many close calls that it’s only a matter of time before my number is up. I tell myself that no one will mourn for me, but as I look at my team, my family, I’m surprised to learn they care.
  • Oh, Tony! *hugs him close*
    • kaylashay81: (Agent - Rookie)
That was quick... hadn't even finished cross-posting yet. :-)

Yeah... that's what I get for reading everybody's season five spoiler speculation...
      • I just happened to refresh my flist and there it was ~ ! Couldn't resist clicking. That icon always promises good things. Y'know. In ways painful for Tony, but good for me nonetheless :D

I don't even want to think about the spoilers :(
        • kaylashay81: (NCIS - Tony Bear Attack)
I love that icon... Tony can get such a sad puppy dog look it's no wonder they have all the dog references in the show.

The spoiler concern me, but I'm holding out for the spoiled person being a certain person... barring that, I have a runner up that will hurt but not as bad as the other persons... is that vague enough?
          • It's true! He really does look rather like a kicked puppy sometimes, doesn't he?

I know them and I am an avid spoiler-reader, so you don't need to be vague :D I just don't like thinking about them - but just like you, I have a list of preference. Tony's the last person I'd like to see go. If he goes, I stop watching. :(
            • kaylashay81: (NCIS - Head Smack Puff)
He's the reason I started watching the show... so... yeah...

I don't see Michael Weatherly willing walking away. In interviews, I've seen him say that it would be hard for him to "stick a fork in Tony and call him done". So that gives me hope.

I can't see him, Mark or Paulie leaving.

Of course the Director is my first pick because I'm just not in tune with her character. Then (even though I hate to say it) Ducky would be next. After that, it gets kinda fuzzy with Tony being at the end of the list.
  • ext_24297: Aiden - Closed Eyes (Default)
Nice. You know how I love your Tony pieces. (Though on the last paragraph, check the first word.)
  • There's spoilers suggesting Tony might die? :| If the one who goes does turn out to be him...GAH can't even think about it.

    Loved this, as usual.
    • kaylashay81: (BtVS Naughty Nice)
Not so much spoilers as speculation. Everyone is speculating who is most likely to go. There are some Tony naysayers out there putting up info about him. Of course there's people putting up stuff on Jen and Ducky and Tim and Ziva and Abby too... Gibbs seems to be the only one safe from speculation.

If it's Tony... well... um... I will live in happy denial land with my dvds and fanfiction for many years to come... Or I will end up writing angst filled Tony fics...
      • I dunno, I just can't see Tony leaving. Yes, I am bias but...I just don't see it.

It will be the director. Definitely the director. (If I say it enough, do you think it will come true? :P)

        • kaylashay81: (Plot Bunny Season)
I'm right there with you chanting... maybe they'll hear.

I do like the hope that interview with Michael Weatherly from one year ago gave me... the part where he said he didn't think he could willingly stick a fork in DiNozzo and call him done.

I don't see him leaving what is a good thing, especially since they slated 28 episodes already for next season. I think it would take alot to take out him or Mark Harmon and be able to keep the show going for those eps.

I can see the director going. Plus I kinda like this new assistant director, Leon. The character already has me believing him as a director and he's only been in a few scenes. And I think Lauren Holly lives in Chicago or something like that with young kids... so the commute has to be hard on her.

I could also see Ducky going... I wouldn't be happy with it, but I could see it. I wouldn't mind Palmer stepping up.

Those are the first two on my chopping block. After that, it's fuzzy between the others and Tony is last in line with armed guards under shoot to kill orders if anyone tries to take the boy away. ;-)
          • Someone else who likes Leon, good! I've read a lot of people saying they don't like him. He has qualities that remind me of Morrow. He has a very strong presence.

...Ducky, well...yeah if he went I'd be sad, but it would make more sense than Tony or Gibbs. In my mind, Gibbs, Tony and Abby are the trio that make the show, with the others a very close second.

*sends reinforcements to join your armed guards* Just let them try, I say.

            PS: I love that icon.
            • kaylashay81: (NCIS - Finding the Spirit)
I can actually see myself writing Leon in some fics. He needs to be around for another few eps so I can get his character a bit more, but yeah, I like him.

He is what a director should be and we've hardly seen him. I think he would be a good keeper. I like him even more than Morrow. Leon seems more approachable yet still commanding.

Gibbs, Abby and Tony are the "it" trio for me too. I mean them and Ducky have been in every frickin' episode all the way back to the two JAG eps... so the show is THEM. THEY are the show...

Your reinforcements are welcome to join in Operation Protect DiNozzo. :-)
