you also have plenty of time so you can start now and see if its working and try a different tactic if it's not.
You might want to also get a first reader, that's what I did for my bigbang, I posted sections (between 1-4k each) as I finished them to get suggestions/comments/squee, whatever as I was going along. It's quite helpful to see if things are working or not.
