KATE: (to phone) It's my sister's number. I always use her as my emergency contact. No, she lives in Miami.
(Tony tosses a crumpled wad of paper in the trash one desk over.)
KATE: (to phone) What difference does it make if she's local or not?
(Tony tosses another crumpled wad of paper into the trash bin without looking. Tony waves his hands in the air trying to get Kate’s attention.)
KATE: (to phone) Well, no. Of--of course. I could -- I could get a number of somebody in town. Uh, it's just that ...
(Kate motions for Tony to wait. He gets up and walks over to her desk.)
KATE: (to phone) I'll have to call 'em first to make sure it's all right. Fine, I'll call you back.
(She hangs up.)
TONY: I'll be your emergency contact.
KATE: Thanks, I'll get somebody else.
(Kate stands up.)
TONY: Yeah. What's wrong with me?
KATE: Where do I start?
(Tony chuckles. He follows Kate.)
TONY: They never call. They just need a number.
(Tony tosses a wad of paper over his shoulder without even looking. It goes in the trash bin.)
KATE: How do you do that?
TONY: First team varsity, Ohio State. So, what do you say?
KATE: Fine. Just don't make a big deal out of it.
TONY: Great! So ... um ... what are my responsibilities? Are there any financial ramifications? Like do I need to ... um ... give blood if you get hurt?
KATE: See? This is what I was talking about making a big deal out of it.
TONY: Maybe I should go by your house and sort of check out the floor plan.
KATE: Oh, forget it! (She slams the file cabinet door closed.) Forget it, okay? I'll just, um ... I'll ask Abby.
