ETA: They just used my video from this morning on The Weather Channel while they were talking to our town's mayor about the flooding.
The 2nd Video I linked below...

We missed the tornadoes so far and I'm glad all those that went to see Mark Harmon in OKC are okay.

However, early this morning (and it's still going on) we received more rain in 3 hours than the monthly average for the month of June. And it's going to be raining more the rest of the day.

There was minor flooding on my street, but it has gone down. However, several streets are still under several feet of water in my town. Scary stuff.

Below the cut are some videos and pics I took between 6:00am to 6:15am this morning.

In other news, my sinus headaches have finally receded. So perhaps this front passing through was the culprit.

  • Wow! It's very light for the time of day. I thought it would have been darker like it is here in Europe until around an hour or later. There seems to have been a lot of torrential rain all round this last month. Here in Bilbao we've had as much rainfall in May as there usually is in the first 10 months of the year.

Are the kerbsides low there or is it because of the heavy rain? Just being plain curious.

Glad your sinus headaches are better. Take care - you seem to be on fairly low ground there.
    • we had more rainfall in three hours this morning than the entire monthly average for June.

A lot of the streets and areas are very low and the drainage cannot handle the amount of rain that fell in a short period of time (5 inches in about 3 hours and more is still falling). One area that I've NEVER heard of going under water about 2 miles away from me, went under across a major road and flooded parking lots and a motel. Water was up over the car hoods.

Crazy stuff... It mostly gone down in the main areas. I just did a drive to see what was clear because my parents were needing to come over to shop.
      • Good heavens!! Now that is unusual for a major road and adjacent car parks to be flooded out, since those areas usually have better drainage systems. Mind you flash floods tend to concentrate on very specific areas, so it's possible most of the rain fell right there so the drains couldn't cope.

Let's hope the rain eases off and drains can start handling the excess water.
