Summary: Being in the spotlight isn't always necessary.
Gibbs let out a low chuckle as he saw the cardboard cutout of Tony standing beside the nightstand.

"How long does he plan on staying?" Gibbs asked the real thing.

"Figured I'd keep him around awhile if it deflects the head slaps. So how's the posterboy feeling?"

"Like I want to slug Leon for letting them use my photo without permission. Could have them change it…"

Tony got a thoughtful look on his face before responding.

"Nah. It would cheapen it. Plus, I'm kinda like Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. Sulley gets the spotlight, but I'm always guarding his six."

    Gibbs will never get that movie reference, but it's absolutely brilliant!!!

    And while I'm convinced the cutout ended up in Gibbs' bedroom, my slashy mind was convinced that it would be Gibbs' doing, not Tony's. *g* (Oh, there's such a wonderful ficlet waiting to be written... *shifty*)

    You so made my day. First the Tibssnell fic, and now cutout!Tony fic. Bliss! :D

      But it did have the Mike Wazowski vibe with the cover. Mike's all, "I'm on the cover of a magazine!"

      In the movie Monsters, Inc., Sully and Mike were partners. Sully was the one that was the leader, but he was quiet and didn't really care about the fame. Mike was the outspoken/flashy one of the two. At the end of the movie, Mike was all excited because him and Sully were photographed for the cover of a magazine. When they all looked at the cover, there was Sully all big and prominent and Mike was almost completely covered by the barcode (or something). Everyone thought Mike was going to be upset, but he just kept going, "I'm on the cover of a magazine!" and it didn't bother him that he was obscured.

      And there needs to be more cutout!Tony fic now! :-)

    This is beyond cute :) I loved monsters, and writers of this ep must have seen it too. I thought `this looks familiar` when I watched the ep, but for the life of me couldn`t remember where from. Luckily there are smarter people out there, like you :)))
    You made me smile, and for starting the day in that way I`m grateful :D
