First, I have 2 Dreamwidth Invites to pass out, just ask and you can have them on first come, first serve...
Second, I'm going to do something I rarely do on my journal and talk about the NCIS Season 6 finale.
I'm going to start with the ending first. WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!!!!!! I wish they had left it with Tony's cell phone closing. End Scene. But they went and had Beaten!Ziva being "interrogated" about NCIS by some terrorist group in Africa. What's so big about NCIS that they would want to know from someone who worked the major case squad and wasn't directly involved in the intelligence end of things? Gah!
Okay... those last moments aside... I LOVED the episode in terms of how the characters acted and interacted. I would have liked a few more Gibbs and Tony talking (or not-talking) scenes, but that's the shipper in me. But, Gibbs chose Tony. There was never any question there. And I did love that Gibbs asked if he would ever see Tony again.
I wanted to slap McGee at first in this episode, then I got to thinking. I *think* he was trying to be Tony and lighten the mood. But McGee is not Tony and therefore the mood lightening trick did not work with Gibbs or anyone.
I also want to know what Tony talked about in the car ride with Mossad guy. Maybe there should be fanfic there. *ponders*
I'm not sure what to think about Ziva being assigned to kill Ari and get Gibbs' trust in the first place... I'll have to think on that one.
Anyway... I liked the episode and will just purge the last moments from my brain.
PS: Tony needs more Abby-hugs as long as they don't hurt his arm more. The poor boy is going to have a worse fracture after all the manhandling he received after the fact.
PPS: What the hell is Gibbs going to work on next? His basement is kinda empty...

Although, the weird look Gibbs gave Director David then makes me wonder if this was something planned out beforehand between Ziva and Gibbs to make it look like Gibbs was turning her away. (Mostly because that would be lame and NCIS seems to like doing lame lately)
Plus it's like Gibbs told Vance, it isn't so much that he chose, its that she asked him to choose.
I think the look between Director David and Gibbs though was Gibbs letting David know that Gibbs knew that Ziva was feeding him a line of crap and that she was doing this under David's orders.
very true. not a smart move on her part, unless the whole thing was planned, like you said
I think that too. Gibbs knew that daddy was pressuring her to choose mossad/family over NCIS.
Can I hope that you aren't right on that account? Please?
Ziva's lying just aided the decision that Gibbs didn't really have to make. I'm kinda disappointed that that was the "big" decision that Gibbs would make that would send shockwaves through NCIS... He didn't really have to choose because I think Ziva had already chosen and she was looking for validation from Gibbs.
But still... Ziva did lie and she also (supposedly) doesn't trust Tony anymore while Gibbs does. So she would have been a liability anyway.
I think it may be more that Ziva doesn't trust herself anymore than Tony or anyone...
I REALLY really hope I'm wrong.
I think it may be more that Ziva doesn't trust herself anymore than Tony or anyone...
very good point there. I wonder if she ever really did trust herself with all the lies she was spinning
I know she was distraught over Rivkin being all shot up, but didn't she see that Tony was injured and could have been injured just as bad or internally... *sigh* For someone who was so *distraught* over Tony's undercover assignment for Jenny way back when, she sure lost that concern somewhere along the way.
I think also that while McGee will joke about Ziva being Mossad he can't believe that she would really go against the team, and he *knows* that Tony is totally loyal to Gibbs and their team so Tony would never go after Rivkin in cold blood. Tim just wasn't getting the seriousness of the situation.
Oh, and I agree with you on Gibbs' line about seeing Tony again, that and when Gibbs told Leon that he should have checked DiNozzo's luggage before he left DC when Leon got angry about Tony's sarcasm
They get a lot across with their eyes and body language and I love that about them.
But at least they gave us looks and actions and a few comments from Gibbs to Vance to let us know it was there.
LOL! Who knows.
And really? Africa? *pouts*
WHY SHOW?! WHY???
Part of me wonders if Vance was in on Ziva's 'betrayal' of Gibbs...but to me, we did the betrayal thing at the start of this season, must we do it again?
tl;dr - I don't trust Dir. David.
I was hoping Gibbs would transfer Ziva to Intel or another team where she wouldn't have to work with Tony, but would still be at HQ. However, Vance has always harped on the Liason position being a bad idea, and I'm not sure he'd let her remain at NCIS long, anyway.
Is anyone else weirded out by the way Vance calls Dir. David "Eli" and seems to have worked with him before? I don't buy that cock-and-bull story Vance told about Ziva being sent to take out Ari and tricking Gibbs. He may be the SecNav's Chosen One, but I don't trust his judgement where Dir.D is concerend.
I believe Ari. His father is a duplicitous bastard who lies as easily as he breathes. He puts Israel (rather, what HE believes is right for Israel) above everything else. IMHO, he turned against Ziva when she didn't fill him in on everything he wanted to know about NCIS. I'm firmly convinced he assigned Rivkin to seduce Ziva to pry more information out of her.
It was thanks to Tony, not Vance, that we found out Rivkin was acting on Dir.D's orders and was NOT a rogue. btw, I love Tony's interrogation technique. As Gibbs says, "It isn't pretty, but it's effective."
I hope Gibbs takes Tony for more X-rays as soon as they land. That shoulder got a workout from Dir. David. *volunteers to provide TLC while Tony's healing*
Last, and least, that scene with Ziva being interrogated reminded me of the Jack-Bauer-goes-to-China finale on "24". I've been trying to figure out what she would know that would be of use: codes, HQ layout (inc MTAC), possibly some info on current ops, phone numbers and contacts,
Re: - I don't trust Dir. David.
Nor do I trust Eli as far as I can throw him.
