Summary: Who knew fitting in would be so hard that even the wrong drink could cause a problem?

“What is that?!” Abby gasped between taking deep breaths and spitting the offending liquid out of her mouth.

“Orange Crush,” Tony said with the feeling that he should back away from the Goth lab tech he had only just met. Inwardly, he was cursing himself because he was already making waves with his new co-workers after one day.

“Gibbs told me to bring you a drink,” he added, hoping to pin the blame on someone else.

“Gibbs knows that I only get Caf!Pows. Did he tell you that?”

“He might have mentioned it, but I forgot,” Tony admitted in fear.

Some time later, Tony found himself in autopsy watching as Dr. Mallard talked with their latest victim and Gerald’s head bobbed to whatever music was on his MP3 player. He thought, not for the first time, that NCIS took all types.

“So I didn’t think the wrong drink could crush a person that much. I mean, she looked like I had killed her favorite grandmother or something.”

“It is not Abigail I would worry about being crushed my dear boy,” Dr. Mallard said in a tone that caused Tony to shiver. “Is your last will and testament up to date?”

“Gas the truck and I’ll meet you downstairs,” Gibbs barked as he tossed the keys in Tony’s direction. Tony beamed after successfully catching them.

Grabbing his bag, he risked asking the question on his mind. “We got a case?”

“Dead marine,” Gibbs said shortly. “Apparently crushed to death by a large light fixture in his house. Locals suspect foul play.”

“Crushed to death?” Tony questioned.

“Yeah,” Gibbs responded with a smirk. “Maybe you should take notes, because if Abby doesn’t get you I will for wasting time.”

Tony jumped to action when the hand landed on the back of head.

“What can I get her?” Tony mumbled to himself. “You’ve been around here for awhile, got any ideas?” he asked Gerald.

“Abby’s not your average woman,” Gerald said with a smile. “Did you know she sleeps in a coffin?”

“She what? Like in vampires and ‘I vant to suck your blood’?” Tony asked in disbelief.

“All the way,” Gerald chuckled.

“I have a fear of vampires you know. My mother’s fault, but she’s dead, so I’ll forgive her.”

“You’ll be dead if you don’t get this scene processed, DiNozzo,” Gibbs barked.

“Process the scene or get crushed. On it, Boss!”

“What are those?!” Abby demanded with an irritated expression.

“Uh, roses,” Tony said, suddenly unsure of his idea for a peace offering.

“Do I look like some long legged blond you have to bribe to get her into bed with you? I don’t know why Stan had to leave.”

Tony felt his chest tighten and he wasn’t sure why.

“I’m sorry for getting you the wrong drink, Abby,” he said quietly.

Abby walked over to the roses and sniffed. “If he had brought me black, I think I would have developed a crush on him,” she mused quietly to herself.
