Word Count: 300

Summary: Faith; complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

Faith; complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Relationships are started on faith. Faith that the person you are getting involved with tells you the truth. Faith that that person is who they say they are. Faith that they are trustworthy of your secrets and you are of theirs.

But then in a matter of seconds, that faith is shattered. One blinding moment of sound and heat and flame crumbles the faith you had in two people you thought would never lie to you.

One is the man who raised you. The man who watched you take your first steps in this world. The man you called father, dad, papa… He lied to you your whole life and you never even suspected the secrets he hid, the things he did. It hurts to even consider how many deaths could be on his hands; hands that picked you up when you fell.

The other is the man you’ve grown to love. The man you thought you might have forever with; but forever is just a fairytale. He lied to you from the moment you met. Lied about his name, about his job, about his whole damn life. You realize that you never knew him and yet you slept with him, told him you loved him, wanted to grow old with him and have his children.

It was all one big lie. From the moment you were born until the moment that car exploded, you were living a lie and didn’t even know it. Now you know the truth and almost wish to be back in the safety of the lie. You long to rewind the clock to where it was just you and the man you love.

But that will never happen, because you know your faith has vanished forever.

That was really well done. Very touching, very realistic. Poor Jeanne.
    • Thanks. It just popped in my head when I was trying to think of someone other than Tony to use for a piece about faith.
  • (no subject) -
  • Very painful.

    Very real.

    Poor, poor Jeanne.
    • Thank you! Writing this actually made me like Jeanee just a teeny bit, just because she got so mistreated with the whole thing.
      • I've found that myself with Jenn and even Mann in things I've written.

I never disliked Jeanne, I rather liked her relationship with Tony, so I felt really sorry for her when it all fell apart. She was used; but then I also felt really sorry for Tony, because he genuinely fell in love with her *sigh* All very sad.
  • Oh, my! That was so good. I don't even like Jeanne, and I felt for her. Excellent job.
  • Oh excellent! I agree with you Kaylashay, I don't care for Jeanne, but it had to hurt to find out what she did about her Dad and Tony at the same time. That's a lot to take in, especially all at once. I may not have cared for her, but I can definitely feel for her. You're right, she did get gyped.

    • She definitely did get gyped with the whole thing and that's the only thing that makes me kinda like her. I mean she was just a pawn. I'm actually working on a fic that touches on this subject only using a different NCIS character for a challenge response at NFA. Hopefully I can capture some of the same essence I had here in it.
      • That sounds good! You did an incredible job with this. I know not everyone will agree with me, and even being the Gibbs/Tony fan that I am, I like Jeanne for the most part. I thought it was nice to see Tony actually have an adult relationship even if it did end badly and was quite hurtful for him in the end, it was still nice to see that he can have a meaningful relationship.

She did get the sort end of the stick, she loved the person she thought Tony was and she loved her father. Even after finding out that Tony had lied to her, she still offered him a chance to go with her. That to me takes a lot of guts.

        • Thanks... writing angsty can be easier than writing comedy or other stuff at times. At least for me.

Yeah, I like that Tony had a relationship, but I hate how the relationship had to be. In the long run I think it did more damage to him that his string of non-relationships did. Makes me hate the director even more for getting him to do it.

I just sent you a preview of the fic I'm working on via the personal message thingy here.
