Chapter 83: Magic of Love

Disclaimer: The pictures of Sam and Cupid's body are not mine. I claim no rights to them. The background came from http://bronze-ambition.net. The poem is The Magic of Love by Helen Steiner Rice. All effects are of my creation.

Author's Note: This is my attempt at some Valentines Day manip making. It was spawned by [livejournal.com profile] jinnifanfic's story Cupid, Stupid. This is my first attempt at taking a person's head and putting it on a different body. The body is Karl Urban who played Cupid on Xena. Let me know how I did and any suggestions on improving. Other than that, Happy V-Day, Happy Anti-V-Day or just Happy Hump Day.

EDIT: I played with the edging on his hair some more. It's still bothering me, but... well, let's say Sam's hair can be annoying.

EDIT 2: I played some more with the hair. I think before this I always avoided pictures with hair like this, because I don't remember getting this aggravated before with hair. Hmmm...

  • Nice manipulation! The skin tones match well between the face and body. The hair looks a bit choppy, though.
    • I have a love/hate relationship with Sam's hair. Sometimes it works easily for me and others... well, those times make me want to pull out my own hair. That picture of him in particular is one of the worse I've come across... usually if I use it I keep the original background behind it. I just added another version to this post with some touch ups to the hair. Not sure if it's better or not, but I tried.

I'm also testing different Sam heads that match the angle of Karl Urban's head in the original photo. I have one that angles great, but his skin tones don't want to match like this one did... It's always something...

Glad you enjoyed it by the way and thanks for the feed back, I enjoy getting pointer, suggestions and if you have a request let me know. I can't make a promise, but I could try. :-)
  • Way f'ing cool! I'm a faithful Karl Urban fan and I like supernatural too! I smile actually because I've never known of someone to add someone's head to Karl's body. I've seen Karl's head on other bodies. Very good job on this one. Do you mind if I share what you've done with my LJ flist? If not, I will add this post to my memories. I simply love it!
    • Go for the sharing! :-)

I just added a second one to this post where I played with the hair some. It's still not perfect (grrr) but it's a little better. Sammy's hair gives me fits sometimes... I love it, but hate to work with it. :-)

      Glad you enjoyed so much!
  • Oh and sorry, I was smiling so much I didn't mention the hair thing. The hair is a bit choppy but it's not so bad. It's the edges that are evident. I don't do photo manips, so what much do I know? Lol.
  • OMG, you actually took my 2 favourite actors and rolled them into one... You can't see it but I'm grinning like an idiot right now. Hee!

This is very well done, even though the lighting on Jared's face doesn't match the one on Karl's body. But that's minor. I've made a ton of photomanips of Karl using someone's else body, and a few of Jared as well, but never the other way around so this is very interesting to look at. Great job!
    • Glad that you enjoyed it so and thanks for the advice.

I think I realized that I've always avoided using pics with hair like Sam's was in this one... I tried cleaning it up some more with the smudge tool. Probably got a little carried away with it, but... oh well...

Now to decide what to do next... Hmmmm....
  • Oh, I forgot to mention a small piece of advice regarding the choppy hair. I don't know which software you're using but if it's Photoshop, using the Smudge tool at about 50% with a very small brush size (under 5 pixels) would help you get rid of the choppiness.
